Local 5 was chartered by the Bricklayers' and Masons' International Union of America in 1900. Though the Local existed before that time it is unclear what international, if any, the Local was affiliated with. In 1910 the international union added plasterers as members and the local became Local 5 of the Bricklayers, Masons, and Plasterers International Union of America.
